“ We came here based on the Michelin Guide and it did not disappoint. It’s tucked away in a small village - probably a hamlet with nothing else really around. It felt isolated but in a really lovely way. So, location fantastic. Now, the food. The complementary bread was outstanding. Beautiful texture and flavour and the perfect accompanying seasoning - butter, olive oil, balsamic and cute pots of coarse salt and pepper which felt both luxurious and rustic simultaneously. The scallops were beautifully cooked and the soup was fine. But the mains - monkfish and beef (if memory serves) were amazing. Beautiful depth and earthy flavour with the beef. The monkfish was beautifully cooked. Then finally, the pistachio souffle was fantastic. Souffles aren’t the easiest to find in the UK - and this one is worth travelling for! Highly recommend visiting this place. We’ll be visiting again! ”
“ We had a wonderful evening, I have a sugar problem, and I could not have been better served. The attention was fantastic, and the food was delicious. I had scallops and then monk fish followed by cheese. A lovely evening! ”
“ The food was excellent and the ambience was wonderful... lovely people, and we wish we had discovered this restaurant many years ago... We travelled many miles to get there and every mile after leaving, we enthused over the experience... ”
“ Visited the restaurant for lunch. Beautiful old Devon pub nestled in a village off the beaten track. Very welcoming from the moment we entered. Plenty of time to review the menu and make choices while sitting in the lounge. Two menu's; a lunchtime menu at a set price and an a la carte menu. Conveniently even the set menu has individual prices for starter, main and dessert, so you can swap between menu's. We chose from both and all excellent. Beautifully cooked an presented and very, very good. Service very friendly and charming. I cannot recommend enough. ”

You're met with the finest customer service. All staff are extremely warm and welcoming. You don't just dine here for a meal you dine here for the experience. This fine restaurant offers the most delicious meal with a good full menu. Priced well considering its Michelin star! Portions are a good size and you definitely come away feeling full. I can not recommend this more. ”
“ Had a great lunch there! The tuna loin starter was really good. Good attention to detail on the food and reasonably priced considering the quality. Great service as well. A bit of a drive for me but well worth it!! ”
“ From the first moment of arrival outside this utterly charming and beautiful restaurant, the very best experience awaits. A warm welcome and invitation to relax in the sitting room with pre luncheon drinks and nibbles whilst we peruse the menus was just the beginning. Our selection from the set 3 course menu was superb, beautifully presented, perfect. The staff are warm and friendly, efficient and discreet. Well deserving of the accolades and Michelin Thank you Sarah, Mark and the team for a splendid lunch. ”
“ Fantastic meal - lunch treat whilst visiting Devon. Beautiful setting, incredible food and lovely team/ owner looking after everyone. Had the three course lunch, with a glass of champagne and a coffee afterwards. I think a good price, too. Definitely will be back - thanks ”
